Summer Camp FAQ 

General Information

1. What ages can attend camp?
Our camps are designed for ages 7–11, with some specialty programs available for older students.
2. What are your camp hours?
Standard camp runs 9:00 AM–3:00 PM. Early drop-off and extended care may be available depending on enrollment.
3. Where is camp located?
Camps are currently held at [insert location(s): Trinity Lutheran / New Bridges UMC / other host sites]. Location details and parking info will be provided upon registration.

 

Program & Curriculum

4. What will my child learn?
Students rotate through instrument and creativity stations including:
  • Ukulele
  • Guitar
  • Piano
  • Drums
    Digital Music Composition (GarageBand/Soundtrap)
  • Art & Performance
     
Each station has clear learning outcomes aligned with our Mindful Musician philosophy.
5. Do students need prior music experience?
No — camps are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced young musicians.
6. What instruments do campers use?
We provide all instruments. If a camper prefers to bring their own, they may do so with a labeled case.

 

Daily Schedule

7. What does a typical day look like?
Every day includes:
  • Morning choice time, circle,  warm-ups & Snack
     
  • Two rounds of instrument stations
     
  • Outdoor lunch and playtime at the park
     
  • Afternoon circle & snack
     
  • Afternoon Stations
     
  • Closing reflection, Popsicle and choice time
     
8. How do you ensure safety during park walks and outdoor lunch?
We follow structured procedures including active supervision, spread-out staff positions, cleanliness expectations, and engagement strategies (Requests with Reason, Recapitulation, Check-Ins).

 

Policies & Expectations

9. What should my child bring each day?
  • Water bottle
     
  • Lunch + snacks
     
  • Comfortable clothes for movement and outdoor play
     
  • Sunscreen already applied
     
  • Closed-toe shoes
    (Do not bring toys, electronics unrelated to music, or valuables.)
     
10. What is your behavior policy?
We use restorative approaches, clear expectations, and positive communication. If a behavioral issue arises, we partner with families to support students’ success.
11. What happens if my child is sick?
Please keep campers home if they have a fever, vomiting, or other contagious symptoms. We follow standard school health guidelines.

 

Registration & Payments

12. How do I register?
All registration is handled through Jackrabbit. You’ll receive confirmation and onboarding materials after enrolling. Payment is NOT due at time of registration. OMA Team members will process camp deposits at the end of the month and full payments the week preceding camp. 
13. Do you offer scholarships or sliding scale tuition?
Yes! We have limited scholarships available through our community partners and OMA’s equity initiative.
14. What is your refund policy?
Refunds are available and listed in our policies page

 

Performances & Family Engagement

15. Is there a performance at the end of camp?
Yes — students present a mini-showcase of songs and creations learned during the week. For students only attending week 1 of both weeks, we offer an open rehearsal on the first Friday at 3pm. For those attending the second week or both weeks we share at 4:10pm on the final day of camp. 
16. Can parents volunteer?
Absolutely! Ask us about options for helping with showcases, snack setup, or material prep.

 

Special Needs & Accommodations

17. Can you support students with IEPs, 504s, or special learning needs?
Yes — we work closely with families to understand student needs and create a supportive environment. Please share relevant info during registration so we can plan appropriately. We may not be a fit or have resources to support all learning types. If it is a question, please reach out ahead of time to schedule a consultation. 

 

Meals & Health

18. Do you provide lunch or snacks?
Campers bring their own lunches.
We offer snacks including smoothies and bagels with creme cheese in the mornings, tortilla chips, cheerioes, pretzels, sliced apples, madarin oranges, grapes, carrots, celery and of course Mango Popsicles at the end of the day. 
We maintain a nut-free environment but cannot guarantee a nut-free park experience.
19. What is your medication policy?
Staff can store and supervise administration of medication with proper documentation. Meds must be clearly labeled.
