Ozzy's Music Academy opened its doors on June 16th of 2021 after 18 months of simmering during the Covid 19 pandemic.

The "Mindful Musicianship" curriculum was imagined during a Covid 19 pod class where the challenges faced by students and parents transcended typical woes of school and schedules.

Directing our hardships into self-discipline and self development showed us a was to cope with the unprecedented challenges we faced.

By developing our ears and our minds toward calm, disciplined practice, skillful self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and communication skills, musicians of all ages are able to transcend previous limitations and embrace the limitlessness of possibility that awaits us all.

Joseph "Ozzy" Osborne is a musician, educator and music education entrepreneur. He was born and raised in Papillion, Nebraska, a suburb of Omaha. He attended St. Columbkille Elementary school where he sang in Church choirs and played piano from 1st grade onward. He attended Creighton Preparatory, during which he joined a Barbershop Harmony Chorus, where he found his passion for singing and making music every day. He began his liberal arts and humanities studies at Creighton University in the Math and Physics departments before transferring to Wayne State Teacher's College to study choral conducting and classical voice. In the process of studying choral conducting, he stumbled upon Orff Schulwerk and the Kodaly Methodology. These two provided a joyful and unparalleled framework for teaching musicianship and improvisation to young people. This began his journey of teaching elementary music through creative movement, exploration, repertoire, and play. After 2 beautiful years in Forks, Washington as the elementary music and Middle school choir teacher, Joseph moved to Alameda as a new home from which to attend Holy Names University's Graduate Program in Musicianship, Musicology, and Pedagogy (Curriculum and Materials design.) After teaching in Charter and Public schools all over the Bay, he decided to start his own private studio. Today you can find him playing gigs and shows all over Northern California as a  part of multiple recording and performing projects, teaching group and private lessons at the Academy, and guest teaching for organizations like Cantare Con Vivo, and multiple east bay school districts.
