Hi Music Fam! I wanted to share a short example and explanation of how we engage young musicians in playing, play, theory, and improvisation from Day 1.
We use music they already have in their ear.
We use color coded aids to help them get their hands in the right spot with little self-doubt or struggle with placement.
We play melodies on a single (or few) strings/keys to maximize accessibility.
We give everyone a chance to explore and develop their innate creativity through improvisation.
